For the third consecutive season, the Washington Redskins will be playing on Thanksgiving when they travel to Dallas and face the Cowboys at AT&T Stadium. The game will begin at 4:30 p.m. ET on Nov. 22.

It's the first time in franchise history that the Redskins will play on Thanksgiving three years in a row. Washington lost to Dallas 31-26 on Thanksgiving in 2016 and beat the New York Giants 20-10 in 2017, when the team hosted its first game on the holiday at FedExField.

Besides last year, the only other time the Redskins played on Thanksgiving in consecutive years was the 1973-1974 seasons.

Excluding the Cowboys and Detroit Lions, both of whom play on Thanksgiving annually, the Redskins will become the third team since the 1970 AFL-NFL merger to play on three consecutive Thanksgivings, joining the St. Louis Cardinals (1975-77) and Chicago Bears (1979-81). Following the teams' last Thanksgiving Day meeting in 2016, FOX Sports announced that the contest was the most-watched regular-season game in the network's history with an average of 35.1 million viewers.

The Redskins recorded 449 passing yards in that game at Dallas, the team's highest total since head coach Jay Gruden's arrival in 2014.

This will be the 11thtime that Washington will play on Thanksgiving. A win would be the Redskins' fourth all-time victory on Thanksgiving, including wins against the Lions in 1973, Cowboys in 2012 and Giants in 2017. The Cowboys, after losing last year to the Chargers, hold a 30-19-1 record on Thanksgiving.

The last time the Redskins beat the Cowboys at AT&T Stadium was on the final game of the 2015 season, which took place on Jan. 1, 2016.

As a side note, new Redskins cornerback Orlando Scandrick, who previously played all nine years of his career in Dallas, will, assuming he is healthy and on the roster, play in his ninth Thanksgiving game (he missed the 2015 season with injury) as he returns to play his former team.

Following the Thanksgiving game, the Redskins will visit the Philadelphia Eagles on Dec. 3 for another Monday Night Football matchup.

Unrelated to Thanksgiving, the Redskins will open up the season on the road in Arizona. It's the first time since 2014, when Washington visited Houston, that the Redskins won't play their first game at FedExField.
